The last possible date to vote in the upcoming primary elections is April 29.Statewide Voters' Pamphlets have been mailed out to voters around the state. The pamphlets allow you to get familiar with the candidates and issues that will be on the ballot. The primary vote tallying is scheduled for May 20. Oregon ballots, which are handled completely by mail, will begin being mailed out the first week of May.
There are new laws that require that people provide identifying information when registering to vote. If you have a current Oregon DMV driver's license/ID, you must provide that number. If your license has been suspended, it will still serve as identification, however a revoked license is not valid. If you have neither, you must provide the last four digits of your Social Security number.
If you do not have a license/id or a Social Security number, you must provide a copy of one of the following:
- Other valid photo identification
- A paycheck stub
- A utility bill
- A bank statement
- A government document
- Proof of eligibility under the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) or the Voting Accessibility for the Elderly and Handicapped Act (VAEH)
If you have questions regarding your registration, you can contact your county's elections office. For a full list of visit the Secretary of State website. Registration forms are also available online at oregonvotes.org
