SAD NEWS

It seems like every month we're announcing that another group has either disbanded or gone on hiatus. The newest entry to the list of Acts You Won't See Performing Anytime Soon is Sad Panda, who is moving into that second category.

Word from Panda principal Jason Stringer is that he was "fed up with how things were going in every aspect and had to change stuff up." This means shelving the band he started in 2004 and focusing his attention on promoting shows for other acts. Through Stringer Throws Shows, his concert promotion entity, he hopes to book four shows a month at the IKE Box and bring larger regional names to town.

This doesn't mean, however, that Stringer is ignoring his musical urges. He says he's currently in the early development stages of a new band that will feature drummer Doug Hoffman (The Widgets, Office Diving). In the meantime, fans have one last chance to catch Sad Panda. The group will play its final show, for now, at the IKE Box on September 29.
